Question: How many hoarders does it take to kill a spotted lanternfly?

I stopped at one of the local OPE dealers I don't go by often to check their inventory of Stihl saws. Im walking in when I hear my name yelled! It was Skier76 returning a tool he rented. After checking out the saws we continued to chat outside when a see a lanternfly on the pavement. My first attempt to stomp it failed as did the second. Didn't see where it went when he tried to get it too. They can be fast.

It was great to see you again Glenn! :handshake:

On a side note the dealer had the 100th anniversary limited edition Stihl Ms500 on display. We were both admiring it. It wasn't for sale. $5000 if it was.

On another side note: Those lantern flies are all over the place around here. Just had one in the house! Must've snuck in when I opened the screen door.

I’ve been seeing them on my lunchtime walks at work every evening. There are hundreds of TOH at work, and they’re all crawling with SLF’s. I haven’t seen any in Bristol yet but I’m sure they’re close. Definitely hard to stomp from behind as they always see you coming somehow. I have a fly swatter ready at home for when they do show up. Luckily I don’t have any TOH around my house, but there are a couple stands nearby.

We’ve had em here for a few years. They love our giant weeping willow.

They are on all the TOH this summer. The NCDA had an SLF sniffing dog on campus 3 years ago and it didn’t find any. I’ve heard stories about the ground being black with sooty mold under TOH. If you don’t have them yet, they are otw. Don’t invest in a vineyard.
