Wasn't cold enough here. It seems anytime we get a front rolling thru it stay about 38-40 here so we just get cold rain. I'd rather have snow.

Hello all, I am Patrick from Columbia SC - I found you all as I am taking over a family hearth biz and wanted to find a friendly group of wood experts!

I got introduced to the woodburning life early as my granddad in central IL heated his house with an old wood-burning cast iron furnace in the basement, and now I'm happily wood burning at home too and have a severe wood hoarding addiction!

Welcome to FHC lotifoazurri, glad you found us! Good luck with your business, is it building masonry hearths? We love pics of stoves, hearths, and wood stacks. Don't be shy about starting new threads, or contributing to old ones. 15274163363120.jpg

Nope, we do stoves, inserts, and manufactured fireplaces. Buck, Jotul, Hearthstone, VC, Enerzone, Enviro, Blaze King, and High Valley to name a few - we are limited to SC for the most part. I'm always interested to hear real world feedback on brands so it's been fun to peruse the threads here!

I’m Ray in NW CT. I’ve been cutting and burning wood since my Dad got a stove in the early 1970’s. The only problem was he didn’t have a chain saw, so I did a lot of work with an axe and the two-man whip saw, until he got that 14” Homelite.
Now I’m retired and burn a few stoves - a Woodstock soapstone Fireview and an antique “Quaker Pride” kitchen stove in my garage. I just bought my first wood splitter because I have too much maple and cherry cut down from clearing land for that garage, and I’m not a kid any more. I’ll still use my old “monster maul” from back in the day - one of the best tools I own.
    Nice to meet you folks.

Welcome to the club rek :handshake:

You'll come to find we love pictures around here, especially of wood stoves, wood stacks, chainsaws, tractors, trucks, pets, etc., etc.

While hydraulics are great, there's just something about splitting wood by hand that soothes the soul.

You're gonna like it around here!
