Well, It says to introduce yourself, so here I am. My name is Jim, I live in west Wales UK. I came here to look for information on a a Jotul f400, and it looks like I'm going to get it. I have heated with wood for perhaps 45yrs, and had various stoves including home built by me. I thought I would now like a little more refinement and ended up with a Jotul f400 with a missing but almost irrelevant part, for very little. I can make the part if I had some dimensions. I have a serious problem with now old chainsaws. In about 1983 I bought a new Jonsereds 621 and boy what a saw, at that time , the whole thing seemed groundbreaking. This was specifically to tackle the many dead elms on our palace in Worcestershire. I still use that saw, along with four other 621's aquired for next to nothing along my way.
These became rather heavy, so tried a few plastic fantastic's including Still 018's x 2 which I still have and use.
I had never heard of them before but I bought a Jonsereds 49sp at an ag auction for £9 which after an interview ran fine until main bearings got very noisy. Didn't,t fancy the job so got put to one side. Around 8 months ago I picked another 49sp out of a skip (dumpster). it had good bearings, but gasket failure between tank and crankcase.
Had two to get running so looked for info on arborist site, and in 24 hrs had all that I needed from Maine USA, complete with photo's and advice, also info and photo's of case splitter for the job. Made case splitter, split saws, copied gaskets and printed to gasket paper in printer. With good guidance, the job was a synch. All courtesy of individuals who specialise in certain areas, making available priceless info free. So I now have 5 x 49sp's.
They are a very little heavier than a Stihl 026 (which I also have and like) with I say more torque and about 1/3 the hasstle. Many other saws, but you WILL get bored
I need to know about the baffle plate under the lid of the f400, I thought firewood hoarders sounded promising, and it looks like it will be , so good on you all.
It looks like it's difficult for the USA to send a FHC window sticker to me here, even if it costs more than a fair 49sp....still Britain has similar problems leaving the eu......Perhaps you might like to send Mr trump over to us for a week and deal with it ? !!
    Best wishes from the Uk.

Nice to meet you heatmonger :handshake:
That’s quite the rundown on your saw history.
Not much help on the Jotul from me (someone will be along after a bit), but maybe Grizzly Adam can chime in on the FHC decal.

He has made contact with me, I am trying to figure out the cheapest way to post it. It takes forever to get mail back and forth. I used to be a member of the Queen fan club and I would get the newsletter months later. I was also a member of the Red Green far clump out of Cananda and that was just as quick as domestic.

heatmonger Grizzly Adam just came back from Ireland, likely going back within next couple months (no date set yet) for work.

If you haven't got a better plan before then I could import the sticker via my luggage and send it from the hotel.

    Should I tell customs? :D
