Hello everyone. I've been lurking around the site and decided to post, It seems like most of you have known each other a while. I don't heat with wood, I just take down the occasional tree to fuel my fire pit. I have to admit though, this website is making me want to heat with wood, now if I could only persuade the rest of the family.

CGM40, love the Bluegrass State. I have a lot of relatives in Estill County. Are you anywhere close? Actually my avatar picture is from Irvine, KY at the Mushroom Festival.

Welcome to the madhouse! If you heat with oil or electric heating with wood is an easy argument or propane for that matter.. Natural gas is fairly inexpensive... for now

Gas is cheap... But wood is more fun. And you will be the envy of the neighborhood in the next week long winter power outage :campfire:

No neighborhood here. :D The extended family would be envious, though.

Hi all. Been lurking for a week or so and decided to sign up. I have a Buck insert (smoke dragon). Most times, it just emits heat waves, but sometimes I choke it down and it spews some smoke which doesn't bother me in the least...hope no one holds it against me.

Reading the threads about firewood really helps to motivate me to get more wood. I'm at about 4 cords now which is about where I am every year at this time. I have enough space to store over ten cords under roof and with the inspiration from this forum, I hope to get it filled.

I just started on the renovation of my stove room today, so hopefully you folks can give me some inspiration with that as well.

    Hey guys/gals,
I'm Forrest. I live about 30 miles west of Fayetteville. Raised on wood heet, new to an EPA. I did it "Just like Dad did" until a couple of years ago. We built a new house and drug the trusty old Sierra along. The new house is much better insulated and much tighter than the old. The old Sierra was running us out unless shut down tight and smoldered, which led to lots of creosote. Started building my wood supply and minimizing the chimney fires before buying the Keystone.
Life is good now. My friends think I'm crazy. Awesome site.
