Howdy from Ankeny, Iowa. Newly reacquainted to the wood gathering hobby after a ~ 20 year absence. Picked up a stove for the right price for the detached garage and working on installing it, the vertical pipe, the outside firewood racks, and establishing my splitting area. No hydraulics or kinetics for now other than me & muscles, but we'll see how it goes. I need the exercise being a desk jockey and I love the fresh air and the smell of wood. Why pay a gym when you can warm yourself twice?! Looking forward to learning from and sharing with others.

I'm new to the club and I wood like to introduce myself. My name is Jeff and I'm from St. Louis Mo. I've been a social hoarder for many moons now. St. Louis weather can be 50 degrees in July or 70 degrees in February. I have a fireplace, so I don't rely on wood being my main fuel source. It still doesn't stop me from stuffing my Jeep Cherokee to the max with a good score. I've been known check out tree services or just go freestyle and see what I can come up with. I hope to learn more from everyone.

Welcome Mo' Wood! I'm new to the forum myself, from Iowa. Got a lot of wood hand split today (I call it my "wood gym")....But dag-nabit, those varmint pine logs from the city slickers with branch knots every six inches are so cotton-pickin' hard to split! I just gave up. I'll attack it another day and just let it age like fine wine...

Cool beans EstoParatus. I packed my Jeep Cherokee to the max with a sweet pin oak score today. As soon as I figure out my new phone I'll post pics.

Hi FatBoy here, new to this, notto wood.Regular born and raised Washingtonian. Woodpiles consist of a little bit of everything but I still have work to do. You'll find me either outside by my fire, out in the woods or deep in the local lumber bins. Interestingly with all this wood, I have no working woodstove. Hopefully change that soon.
