Hi, my name is Viking80, and I am a firewood/woodstove “green horn”. I’m from the west coast of Norway. Though I grew up with heating with coke, when I was I kid, it’s wood now that I have my own family. We live in a rural area, but I go to work “downtown”. We call the place our own miniature “homestead”. Our house is in this style:

    Skomakarhuset-vinter[1].jpg

(I’m a bit reluctant to post real pictures due to privacy concerns)

I’m a newbie with the chain saw; although I (we?) have "invested" in a Husqvarna 135 e.

This is our fireplace/woodstove (Dovre Vintage 35):

Besides this little beauty we use electricity (heated floors) to keep a “baseline” temperature. Need wood the remove the chill though, and to keep proper warm during the hard Winter months.

In other news; I had my first successful overnight burn tonight! I was really nice to get up early to a warm house – instead of a “not-cold” house! :D

Welcome to FHC Viking80 ! That's quite the unique looking stove, but congratulations on the successful over night burn.

I second campinspecter on the stove. NICE.
To me, it reminds me of television sets from the 50s? and 60s.
Looks more like a piece of furniture.
I had to have a second look to tell my brain that it is a stove.

I like the looks of some of the ravellis. They have a more "modern" look to them. I can see where they would fit better to the decor.
Me, I actually like the older cast iron woodstove look as well. Was thinking on a 52 insert, but, it probably would been too much for where I have the whit. And since i can still get parts (as of last year when i checked) I will hold off on changing for now.

Welcome aboard, Viking80! I, too, am looking forward to more of your pictures and your experiences. Don't be a stranger around here. Strange is fine, but not a stranger. We like strange.

Thanks! Apart from the local variants (typically lager/pils) I do enjoy Kilkenny.

I'll make sure to post some more pics.

A big thank you to you and everyone else for your nice compliments about our stove! It sure looks like a piece of furniture; good thing as it is the "center piece" of our retro living room.

I just call it the TV ;)
