This is why I need a splitter. This pile is just a part of my total haul. It keeps getting bigger each week. 20140725_074906.jpg

I semi-introduced myself in a thread in the Firewood Neighborhood but...

I am a middle-aged father of 5, born and raised in Vermont, married to an Indiana girl. Professional civil engineer. Been cutting and burning firewood for over 30 years. Have a home in the Vermont woods, two woodsheds, two chainsaws, a tractor and a outdoor wood boiler. I burn about 12-15 cords a year. Built my own timber-frame home and woodshed, owned a bandsaw mill for a few years, and my favorite hobbies are all wood-related activities (sustainable forestry, land management, logging, sawing, timber framing, and woodworking). Scoutmaster and volunteer firefighter. I drive a Dodge Ram, play rugby on occasion, shoot pool, drink hard cider, and have no political or religious opinions whatsoever. Happy to be here.

Hiya! Maryland'er here via Pennsylvania. Currently I manage someone else's farm here in Maryland. Before that I leased a farm but it got sold out from underneath me.. so I went back to working for someone else. Before I farmed full time I worked up in PA doing marcellus shale mapping via explosives. That was a lot of fun ! Before that I farmed again, and landscaper at the same time. Anyhoo, I'm in my late 30's hoping to get my own place soon, the Mrs. recently graduated w/ her PhD in Geography from Penn State. so we're trying to find her a great job... (hint hint). I've been cutting trees, firewood, logging, off and on since I was a child. Spent a couple years falling trees for lumber mills on my own, which paid up and down.. mainly though I farm, and cut a lot of firewood. House is heated solely w/ wood, via a Fisher wood stove, a big one too, holds 30 inch long with ease. Lets see... I have a mild case of CAD, only 7 saws that I keep on hand, and about another dozen always laying around to have something fixed up and sold, or loaned out, or w/e.. Mainly husqvarna :)
