Hello Got the unit uncrated and time for more blocking to get the floating console with the hangman brackets properly centered between the light switch and the air conditioner and lined up with the bottom of the TV. Also checked the left front corner of the console and it will be about 6 inches from the right corner of the Harman Advance Wood Pellet Stove.
Now I am stuck on finding recessed outlet boxes. So I went to the big NE Electricians Bash on RedHook Way. The beer was flowing and there air was filled with electricity! LOL My local sales manager and I talked to the folks at Arlington. They make the recessed TV electrical box with the split for High and Low voltage. Not bad but I just want a standard decor recessed box in Single double and triple gang. So my sales manager will have some samples shipped in and we will go from there.
Just got a single gang and double gang recessed outlet box by Arlington. These are nice! Also good for the counter top coffee maker so the plug does not stick out of the wall.
Finally got the TV tube installed! One step closer! Cut the PVC and built it out with a 2x4 to clear the back divider in the radio box. I drilled 2 holes to fasten the pipe with wallboard screws but then I had to drill 2 more holes to get the screws in and the screw driver. Most flat screen TVs have their wire jacks on the right side in the back, therefore I put the pipe on the right side. See pics Any comments?
Hello Today my helper and I played Hookie and worked on the shop. We wired in the 100 Megabit Ethernet wire in a recessed outlet just in case there is a sale on an Internet TV. Then we got the RG6 in the recessed box ready for connectors at each end. Then we got the Yellow 12 gauge Romex in and the 20 amp GFI outlets in. One for the TV and one for the radio. These 2 outlets are on a seperate 20 amp breaker of course. We went with 20 amp instead of 15 amp for more juice in case we want to pump up the jam!
Hello Just ordered the speaker jacks for workshop Is 3 plates for 11 speakers including 2 backyard speakers and excluding the 2 subwoofers enough? See Product Details for PID 3326
Looks like 4 speakers per plate so three plates gives you the ability to connect up to 12 speakers so you should be good. That mount should be plenty solid, I work for a commercial AV company, with an articulating mount like that we generally try to hit two studs. For a standard mount depending on the wright of the TV you can get away with togglers too (no one is doing chin-ups on the TV right?) but if the wall is open blocking is always nice.
Yes, I am putting in 11 speakers and 2 subs. The blocking made it easier to center the bracket and floating TV stand so I can get the largest TV in there, maybe a 55".
Speaker wiring is going in Today! The PT cross brace is for the speaker bracket. Is 500 feet 2 conductor 18 gauge jacketed stranded wire color coded Red & Black for polarity long enough? See pics
How long are the runs? 18g is a little light but unless you're doing something crazy it'll probably be fine.
Not long, workshop is 12x22. Just want a little sound. What kind of wall mounts should I get for the speakers?
what kind of speakers? Omni mount is one of the classics but I'm sure there is al sorts of stuff on amazon these days.
I did not get any speakers yet but I cannot by a set like 5.1 because I need to purchase additional matching speakers plus 2 outdoor speakers so what would you suggest?
Oops, here are the pics 12 speakers Next is the subwoofs Anyone know where I can purchase good quality banana plugs at a reasonable price???
Thank-you - Monoprice is where I got the 3 wall plates. They do have a good price on the Banana Jacks too! Product Details for PID 2801
Hello I Just got the first 2 in the 7.2.2 system by installing the two Polk in floor or ceiling sub woofers mounted. Because the ceiling slopes so the water will run off the deck above, only the left side of the shop is 9" deep to hold the subs! Also the screws that the mounting brackets come with could be better. The Phillip heads can get chewed up easily. I used them to go into the speakers but choose wood trust screws with the big pan heads to go into the joists. These trust screws bite easily and go in easier too. Now for the 11 gauge speaker wire back to the Polk 500 watt Bass amp. See pics Pic 1 - screws that come with speaker The washers and slot in the mounting L brackets allow adjustment for the space between the speakers and the joist. Pic 2 - Phillip head Trust screw going into the joist Pic 3 -- woofer in box mounted There is a small white grill to go over the bass port after sheet rock is up.
