Sensei.....Timber's, we believe, are produced by PA Pellets (Dry Creek). Based on the website(s) they produce hardwood pellets. Nature's Own (Premier Pellets, Energex) out of Canada we think are close to, if not, Fireside Ultra's....which I believe is a blend pellet aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand also burn great in my stove to boot!

Prolly wood have been easier if I had done this BEFORE I hooked the stove all up six inches from the wall! :zip:

Now let's see if I can get the thermostat wire installed without disconnecting the stove. After shutdown unplug it first!

There. I think I got it. Now. To read manual and figure out how to program high/low setting.

Okay. The manual says how to get it into high/low mode. But does not say how to set each of those at the setting you want.? Time to call 1-800-245-6489!

Done. It is set on 4-4 in the high mode and tech. says it will go into like an idle mode in low. (Like 1-1) Now I will keep an eye on it to see how it does. This thing throws some serious heat on 4-4. Doubt I will need it any higher. And it is not that big of a stove. We will see what it is like when it is -10 in January though. Do any of you guys use the higher settings? You must when it gets real cold. Eh? :D

Okay. There appears to be a problem. The thermostat on the wall in the other room is set at 50 deg. It's own thermometer is reading it is 55 in there. So pellet stove should be going into low mode now. ? But it is not.

Is it not reading thermostat right? Maybe bad connection at splice in basement? I will check that now.

Checked splice and took out splice connectors. Just stripped back wires and twisted them together. So I know it is not connection problem there. Stove still not going into low mode.

So maybe one of two things, I guess.

Not wired correctly at stove. Does it matter what thermostat wire goes where? Red or white? I would not think so because it is just making a connection. Correct?

    Or thermostat is bad.

I took thermostat off the wall and left wires unhooked. No change in stove. ?

So twisted said thermostat wires together. No change in stove. ?

What up with this pellet experts?

Back at the spot on the stove where the t-stat is connected was there a jumper that you should have removed? I don't have your stove's manual in front of me. Some stoves can do it with just a switch, some need to have a jumper setting changed, some need a jumper removed and some need a combination done to place the stove on a t-stat.

The other thing about your stove is that it is possible to have the low firing rate so high that there is little to no difference in the flame from heat range 1 vs a higher heat range.

There is a diagnostic program for the controller already on the stove that can tell you if the controller is seeing the t-stat and whether it is calling for heat of not.

Let me backup a bit, the controller doesn't indicate any change on it when it changes from high to low, it always shows what you have set as high. The stove also always runs the convection blower at the rate that is set for high even when the feed rate goes to the low rate.

The only thing that changes is the fire. This can be complicated by the way the low fire operates, if you haven't adjusted your low fire parameters a low fire might not be easily distinguishable from your high fire rate. Then you have to allow about 15 minutes for the stove to show outward signs it has changed rate. Fuel in the pot has to reach a consistent low feed state. Ramp up and down on pellet stoves isn't like turn a gas flame up and down.

Now if you have a multimeter we can test the wiring for the t-stat seperate from the t-stat and the stove. If there is a short in your t-stat wiring the stove will fire at the high rate regardless of the the t-stat setting as it will in essence be calling for heat.

If your t-stat has multiple modes of operation improper selection of the modes or improper connections at the t-stat can cause the same situation.

I had the high setting at 4-4. So when the thermostat was reading above 50 degrees I should of heard the stove turn down to the "idle" mode the technician told me about. And I waited a while thinking the blower may continue to blow at that rate until unit cooled enough. But no change.
