Nope. I keep thinking I should, then the notion passes if I wait long enough. Those rows are 112' long, and I'm not sure I want to deal with covering. Dealt with tarps way too long.
Yea, similar here. I keep thinking about a top cover, but like gas, it passes. My double row stays out almost 1 full year, Oct to mid Aug then what fits, goes to the shed. May have more than I can fit in the shed this year, had 6 c, then got 2 more mid winter. Not sure yet ,what to do with the cord that wont fit in the shed. Put it in the basement & make it a house humidifier
Well, this is getting monotonous. Went out again today hoping to beat the rain. Only managed to overload the small trailer, but it felt good to be a little closer to being done with this mess.
Stack looks like you re-stacked it. Dark water stained stuff is on top ? Nice load of rounds. What year will they be burned ?
Dark stuff is where the water generally stops. Weird. I'll burn these in '15 - '16. I've got about a cord of soft Maple from last year that I'll burn this coming winter. I'm hoping this will stack out to close to a cord.
There's still about 7 rounds I need to cut from the 2 trunks at the base of the trees. I'd also like to pull a little more from the branches, but not too much left is going to be useful. I've still got the other Maple to finish getting too, but the part that broke is still hung up in some small pines.
I'm turning the mess into an un-mess. If it's not raining in the morning, I may try a trip to my sis-in-law's for some more Oak. Only about 4 miles away. The Oak needs to get put up more quickly, if I'm going to use it in '16.
+1 Get the oak CSS soon in your perfect single seasoning row, It'll be ready by 16/17 Is the oak down , dead standing or live ? Live stuff cut now may take an extra year , really wet now.
There's plenty of dead/down Oak over there. I've cut 2 live trees that had a pretty bad lean, but the rest has been dead/down. Should be in gooder shape for '16, after 3 summers out there.
Yea Dead & down & your seasoning method should be good by then. CSS & 3 summers in the sun & air should do a fine job of drying it out
I've got this place a mess too, all the rounds that I stacked in the winter time (on snow & ice) all fell over so it's time for some splitting.
