Dave, the 455 Rancher specs are close to 13 lbs. w/o bar, chain, or fluids. I see that a Stihl 362 is close. Hmmm. I've never used any other saw.
The rain stopped late this morning, so when the sun came out, I took it as a sign I should get in the woods and cut. Went back to the 2x trunk Maple and got about 1/2 of the larger trunk out.
I have no idea what's going on with the pics, but here's one that didn't work right in the last post.
I'm not exactly sure, except that it's not sugar/hard. If I can bring myself to split it fairly large, I can get decently long burns. I like it for mostly fall/spring burns, but I'll burn it during the day in mid/upper teen temps. if I have enough. I'd like to get enough of this so that I only need to burn Oak mid-Dec. through mid-March. Couple cords might do it.
Thanks F1. The stuff right behind the Maple on the ground is Oak. This Maple will be going just to the left of that once I move the Maple that's there into the shed. Just to the right of the Oak, is about 2/3 cord of Pine and Spruce that's also going into the shed late this summer or early fall.
I need to finish this mass o' Maple, but I'd really like to get to my sis-in-law's place. Easier pickins'. Not easy, just easier. Besides, there's a crapton of Oak to pull from there.
