All I can say is DO NOT shoot a skunk with a 12ga unless you plan on totally avoiding that area for about two weeks! Don't ask me how I know :emb:

Thanks for the link! I think the faint smell of skunk is interesting, almost enjoyable. But, I've also burst a skunks "stink pouch" once while I was skinning it, and I was left with uncontrollable gagging for several minutes. There's a HUGE difference between "smells like a skunk got hit on the road somewhere close" and "OMG!!! I JUST GOT SPRAYED BY A SKUNK! KILL ME!!! THIS IS UNBEARABLE!!!!

    I wish I was a 10%.

We brought in some surgical tubing that we moved here from the home we sold last year, it stinks! I needed an extension to fill the aquarium. Yep, somewhere between here and there it was skunked. Ick.

All I can say is DO NOT use an antique trap for skunk unless you plan on smelling skunk for a month or two. Don't ask me how I know :zip:

I've trapped 2 skunks in Havahart traps that were getting into the cat food in my parents barn. Both times I was able to slowly put a tarp over the trap and carry the cage and skunk out into the field, and then slowly remove the tarp. And the first one I was able to get a clean headshot on, which is the skunk I skinned for it's fur (and that's when I burst it's sack). The second time the .22 bullet nicked the wires on the cage and my shot was bad. It still killed the skunk, but it wasn't as immediate as I'd have liked it to be. That time I had to leave that trap out in the field for a few months to "air out".
