Thanks for the info. I went ahead and ordered the 1 liter bottle. Should be enough for 10 gallons.

I hope to get to that 395xp project saw you sold me this spring. Will be nice to compare the two. My buddy also has Jred 2094 that he wants to compare.

I ordered the mill attatchment from HL Supply last night. Cant wait to get the saw broke in and mounted. What kind of bar oil does everyone like to run when milling? I have a fair amount of fractionated coconut oil that I would like to try. It hasn't solidified despite some nights in the 20's. I suspect it's mostly lauric acid which shouldn't oxidize like the polyunsaturated fattt acids in canola oil.

I would just use what ever petroleum bar oil that you find on sale. I like the stuff from TSC

I rey to buy it when it's about $5/ gallon. It usually is like 8 or 9 I think.

I also think echo bar oil is good. But I'm not really a bar oil snob. I use the stuff from walmart or wherever .

Tackifiers. Just like the way oil I use on my mill and lathe. I would like to figure out a biodegradable version to add to this fractionated coconut oil. I have sheep, chickens and eventually will have goats. It would be nice to come up with a safe formulation.

I think every farmer uses bar oil in their chain saw. Maybe not the best thing but plenty of cows eat around it, but milling does put more in one spot than building a fence or cutting wood per say

I need to move the logs I plan on milling to another spot. They are currently in one of my paddocks, right where the sheep like to hang out when they are in there.

I've got the bushog on the tractor and just might clear out a space to put these bad boys tomorrow.

Sheep are just looking for a reason to die. I wouldn't want to take any chances.

I don't think the TSC bar oil has tactifiers. It is not sticky like Stihl stuff. I've used TSC bar oil without problems. The stuff I use for bar now does not have tactifiers and works fine.

At one time Stihl had/has bio bar oil in a green jug. My arctic bar oil is $29 a gallon. I can’t imagine $5.

They still have it. A “bargain” compared to your $29 a gallon stuff...

Tackiness is about the only thing different that I've noticed between the $5 gall stuff and more expensive bar oils...the $5 is a little sticky, the more expensive stuff is real sticky!

Yea it does not seem as sticky but I'm sure it has something, probably not as many as some of the more premium ones though.

My loggers use one called starfire that's semi synthetic. I can buy it retail at his shop for about what a gallon of super tech costs at walmart. It's pretty tacky.

That's good oil. I'd run it in everything.

I wondered if you ever completed it.
