So I guess the big tree could be an Osage, and the small green throny things be a different species, some kind of asian/bitter orange. There are a TON of those green thorny things, and i remeber seeing ine have the little orange still hanging. This is definitely some kind of old houseplace...very different species compare to the surrounding stand, and some ground disturbance indicators. Any homeplace here was pre 1940s.
The pieces that size and a bit bigger I could handle. The two big ones, nope, not so much... Guess I should have asked for a winch and accoutrements for Christmas....
BL thorns are smaller like a rose bush. Not sure what thorny nuisance bush you have there. Glad i dont run into them here.
I cut a lot of Osage fence posts, 4”-12” dia. x 8’ long for lines & 8”-20”dia. x 10’ long for corners & braces. They can get pretty damm heavy. I also like the old ones for firewood, they don’t lose much weight over time.
Yes, if this is/was Osage, it was very heavy, for the size limb I had. I hope you have equipment to do all those big posts.
If weight equates to BTU, then Osage weighs more. Osage is high on the BTU count, some of the best burning wood you can get. Edit: Not that Black Locust is anything to snub your nose at..
