    IMG_3649.JPG Went back this afternoon and grabbed the most likely leaves from the ground. Branches in the brush pile were bare

    Definitely some type of white oak - leaf lobes rounded = white oak
    leaf lobes pointed = red oak

    Only couple exceptions to the rule.
    Chestnut Oak, Chinquapin, swamp chestnut - all white oaks with non-standard oak leaves.

    Blackjack Oak - mostly rounded leaves but is red oak family

    Has to be a white oak with the rounded lobed leaves and that bright silver bark.:yes:

    Also looks like white oak.
    Although not a very nice one...Would be a good one to thin out...and use for firewood :whistle:

    that looks like white oak as well.
    I'd add it to the hit-list.. never going to amount to anything growing crooked like that
