I'm hoping it misses us. Snow and ice means even more problems getting around. Last winter was a real hard one. It took a huge loos on our wildlife. All a part of nature's intent, but hard to accept. I'll bet putting seed, corn etc out for those near here but I know it is only a drop in the bucket.
I've been through two bad ice storms. Out of power for 12 days (I think) in 2001 and 17 days in 2009. Not fun. I have a 5.5KW generator to run the well and a 8.5KW to run the house so it could be worse. 1" of ice in 2001 stayed on the ground for 3 weeks. 1-1/4" in 2009 stayed on the ground for about 2 weeks. If you went outside, prepare to fall down A LOT. Basically couldn't stay on your feet. Absolutely destroyed the trees, power-lines and old structures. I've had enough ice to last me a lifetime
