Thankfully, there isn't any ice build up here. Just snow and slush.

Not going to lie... there’s something so peaceful and serene about the power being out when you’re well prepared and the wood cart is full. Back when Snowtober happened we were without power for 12 days in Simsbury. I had to carry my grandmother out of her house and actually witnessed a fist fight at a gas station on route 44 in Avon. That was an unpleasant couple weeks. But something about this moment right now - with a wood-warmed home, the dancing flame of the candle next to me, my beautiful wife asleep on the couch and the dogs asleep on their beds, a good book in hand, the only sound is the wind outside - it all feels right. We lost the control box to our well pump earlier to the crazy lightning and I don’t even care right now. Contentedness. This is a feeling I’d like to chase more often. I think I could get used to candlelight. Something about it makes life feel pleasantly slower. And smaller.

Turning in soon for the night here. Hope everyone who dealt with this side of the storm today is safe and warm.

Just did the dog in and out thing. Snowing now, but it has some pinging sounds. Temp is 25 F. Went to Lewiston this AM, they had plowable snow this morning, but it was just sleeting while we were there. Drove back home (Augusta area) and the weather was cloudy. Started sleeting around 2pm but not sticking to the car etc. Predictions are for all day snow Tuesday. They are saying rain will move in tomorrow PM. But I'll also tell you the predictions are all over the place. These storms that move in from the ocean fill up with moisture. All depends what the fronts do. My son will do the clean up after the storm. I leave it alone so I don't make more work.

That a powerful observation, esp. from someone your age. Being at rest with yourself is the best medicine you can ever have. Stressing out takes years off our lives. Good for you. Enjoy your peace. You know tomorrow is another day to deal with.
