I was cleaning saws Sunday afternoon and noticed the dog was wiggly on my 044. Both bolts were loose. I had never really paid attention to how small the dog is either and it made me wonder when big death metal spikes became a thing. The 044 spikes are 260 small.

Spikes is something I didn’t think about prior to joining FHC. Now I have this strange urge to double spike all my saws. Even if they are small the 044 should have a matching set of spikes right? :saw:

Yes it should & with a bit of modification you can put a 462 West Coast cover with self contained bar nuts on it.

I like the double dogs so I can run the ceramic chain catchers.

I would say so yes. Not sure what it originally had on it. Ive noticed that on the 361 recently...being too small. I have the big twin ones on the 460. IMG_5065.JPG I should get a pair for the 500i too even though it has twin dogs already

Nothin' worse than losing one of your nuts in the woods!

    I like that feature. 500i, 261, 201 has them

Havent done any after work cutting as no time. Homeowner was moving limbs in the shade while i was there yesterday so i offered to clear limbs while it was in the shade. 194 to the rescue. Hasnt left the truck in a week! Cleared up most of the brush from the maple in front. IMG_5069.JPG IMG_5070.JPG
Ran the 361 for a half hour after work. IMG_5073.JPG IMG_5072.JPG Spitting out some good sized chips. Always fun to see that! IMG_5071.JPG
More maple to buck, then onto the pin oak. He has been moving the maple to the back when ill SS it. Plan to do some serious cutting there this weekend but rain forecasted so we'll see what gets done.

Bucked up more of the red maple in front yesterday. 361 did the cutting. IMG_5118.JPG Most of it cut then time to attack the big pin oak. Rained out over the weekend.

So, was it a foregone conclusion that you would get the wood? Did the homeowner tell the tree service it was yours? Or did your innate charm swing it your way with the tree boss?

if i have these trees cut down, you can have the wood! Oakee dokee!!!
The pin oak and red maple in this thread were in his yard.
    Compliments of Isaias
This pin oak was taken down by the town back in February
This Score was Easy to Pin Down!
I knew ahead of time i was getting the wood.
He has more dead white oak in his back woods i can eventually harvest too.

Just the red maple going in there. It'll hold over two cord and should fit. I have to scrounge some plywood to finish the roof. Ill tarp it until then.
Final resting place of the oak is yet to be determined.

It does. Never seen one used before. He misfired on the first shot, missed on the second. They wouldnt let me play with it.

Finished the maple and started on the pin oak. Humid day made for unpleasant working conditions. Sun came out for a bit too. Random pics from start to finish. At least two more cutting sessions to finish the oak.
