Sort of amazing how little you get out of it. That will be three log truck loads. The first was full the last two smaller loads of crooked stuff. I did cut some out of the first load years back tho. Maybe half a cord.
I’ve decided not to cut up the good possible saw log collection. There are some culls in there that could come out if I need some extra to fill this pen. I’ll leave the possibility of lumber open for now tho.

Id say the bark represents 20%+ of the volume. I scored some bark on BL two years ago that was huge. I let it sit for a few months before I split it and the bark came off. Several wheelbarrow fulls to dispose of. Still have a half cord in a stack. Wonder if it will "petrify" CSS and covered?

I would've done the same thing you did given the storage. Too bad other woods didn't have the shelf life BL does.

Winch arrived just about 6pm. Unbolted/desired the old one. Needed to drill four new holes. Found out the one drill I’m missing is 7/16” the one I need. Hop in the car and off to Home Depot, the only place open at night.
Needed to cut the top of the universal mounting plate where the fairlead mounts. The slot for the rope was shorter than the fairlead slot so the rope would have rubbed on top. Shouldn’t be an issue with the top of it gone. If it ever is an issue I can weld a new piece further up.
I may need to use it first thing tomorrow morning to slide pallets of brick further onto the trailer, hence I wanted it up and running tonight. Just in case

Only tried the remote hard wired. Didn’t even read the instructions for wireless yet. Instructions seem scarce but it’s an easy winch to mount anyway. Two wires and four bolts. The hook that came with it is a monster. May replace that. IMG_3873.jpeg IMG_3876.jpeg
Anyway first impressions are good. Only moved the rope in and out a bit to help with installation. Clutch works, pulls out easy so far. Motor and gear box are very quiet. Very happy to hear it purr instead of gear screech like the old one.
So far very happy with the purchase. Now to find some weight.

Glad this score is over. I’m ready for greener pastures :) Texted the owner I have the new winch installed, when will you be there to let me in the gate. Reply, 7.30 am tomorrow we’ll be there all day. Arrived after 10 and followed him in from the highway,,,,,glad I didn’t get there at 7.30. He forgot the keys to the gate. At this point I grabbed a pair of pliers and pulled out the fingernail on my left pinky just to scream less loud LOL. His wife is leaving hartford and she’ll have to swing home to get the keys.

Bullchitted awhile and figured I’d drive around the front to the side and grab those ugly stumps and crotch I left behind. Sort of planned on leaving them there but seeing as I had nothing to do anyway I might as well grab em.
Grabbed the last of the maple logs and needed to leave room for the bush hog. Grabbing the stumps messed with the plan for room but I squeezed it in. Only took one pic,,,,,noticed I was missing lunch and just didn’t feel like snapping pics anymore :)

Winch works good. Still will replace the big hook. It’s good for use as intended but I never use things as intended. A magnet for the wireless remote would be nice too. Whenever you need two hands just slap it in the trailer, safe out of the way. Beyond that longevity is the only other concern.

Id be ready for greener pastures too. Sometimes the logistical BS we have to go through for a score. Luckily my cut today wasn't that difficult.

Do you have a score lined up?

Geez! The hits just keep coming! Glad the new winch works well. Odd that the saw rev’d out like that and then ran fine. Two strokes run really really “good” as they lean out. Glad the saw it still chugging along.

    Any update on the Polaris?

Just fired off a text to the next guy,,,oak and birch. Seems promising. I’m sure once we meet once it’ll be more of a come whenever you want for the rest. That’s assuming there’s more than a trailer load,,,,who knows,,,

Polaris? You trying to fire me up? LOL. I was gonna quit my whine fest before the forum hands me divorce papers :)
I think I went through on one of these posts last saturdays call where the tech said I need a new spark plug, the old one looks bad. That old one has less than five minutes run time on it.
But yes I received another call from the Saturday crew. This time my upgraded aftermarket ultra premium battery is not holding a charge. It also was used for 5 minutes before I handed it over to them. Plug, oil change and battery,,,,was hoping a new battery might fix the issue which seems to be an intermittent loss of computer signal.
They inquired if it was a deep cycle battery. No, no it’s not. I had explained to this guy about the wiring job that had been done on this atv to allow a deep cycle battery to be plugged in to operate the front winch as I used that to lift rounds on the splitter. Told him all this and said if you think your tech is competent enough to look at this wiring maybe there’s a flaw or loose connection in there. Or in other words the wiring is not exactly factory, keep that in mind when you’re diagnosing.

Then he says the tech thinks your winch is a 24 volt. Well I said you guys installed that Polaris winch before I brought it home so,,,,,you figure it out LOL. I’m not even aware of anyone who makes a 3500lb 24 volt winch. It may be possible but I havent seen one.
What’s grating me is I asked specifically for (Cole) the guy who figured out this issue last year and fixed it to work on the machine. He’s still there they told me. Seems like they handed it to some guy that just graduated from tire pressure school. Polaris doesn’t even know what these codes mean and they hand it to a kid.
If I didn’t have the Honda to back it up I’d be one ticked off homey right now. I’m choosing to laugh it off as these people make idiots of themselves for my amusement. Law of the land, the more stupid they show the less they can charge me for ;)

No directly from my FB page. And I’ll keep you hired on as an official timer this time around :)

I’ve already been wondering how long these logs have been there, mostly the BB. It may be slow but I learn

    "Tire pressure school"
By the sounds of it, these guys may have aged out, not actually graduated!
30 year old Honda for the win!

Wow! They are chasing their tails on that one! I’m glad you’re able to laugh this off since you have the Honda.

Yeah well it’s throwing diagnostic codes that even Polaris don’t know what they mean. Guessing someone in Asia built a computer and didn’t give Polaris all the possible error codes, just the most common.

The last of it. Some of this stuff was behind the pile, sitting on the ground since 2018-19. Different batch from a different score. Seemed to be much harder wood???
Time to clean up the entire processing area, a task I’m good at putting off but now’s the time. Quite a few junk pallets hanging around, some punk wood. All goes into the burn pile which is ready for a match already,,,,,,
The locust bark will go into the trail. Have some wet spots, have some bumpy/rocky parts that could use a little cushion to smooth things out. :)

Second largest hoard of BL in the state! ;)

You always could add a third row of pallets to the sides!
