    Leaf, bark and the tree itself says it's a Norway. Looks like a decent tree from the pics. Also looks like some nice pruning cuts, I wouldn't do too much more to it, like you said maybe thin out a few branches.

    Thank for everyone's insight!! I am now sure that my tree is a Norway Maple now that I hear from you guys.........and yes the tree does shade out the ground below it to the point where its hard growing grass under it. I do intend on thinning it out a bit. Like cutting every other branch off going up into the canopy.

    As long as it doesn't start tearing up my basement. As you can see its not very far from my house.
