I always got a ton of LEGO's for Christmas when I was a kid. I still have them all in the basement in an old Craftsman toolbox but no particular set stands out, I never really used the instructions and always built my own stuff. There are 2 gifts that stand out, the first is my first RC car. I got up at like 3:30 AM that year, found the car under the tree and drove it around until the batteries died. By the time they recharged the rest of the family got up. Every year after that my mom forbade me from getting up before a certain time, apparently the "whirring" of the car kept waking up my parents! I also got my first bike for Christmas. I think that present was kind of mean, learning to ride a bike when the ground is frozen hurts!!
The girls and I added the woodstove when the girls were given it one Christmas. Fortunately my Mom only had one girl so I got the dollhouse. I have kept it as I don't want to play favorites with my girls. It will probably eventually go to my granddaughter. Although her birthday is today, 4 years old is way too young to get it. Maybe when she is 30, lol.
I too got many Legos. Those were always great. I also got a Sega Master system back in the day. Best gift ever, and the best game system of the time too.
We didn't get Lego. We got small red plastic bricks that you could create houses and things with. Mom kept vacuuming them up as we would leave them everywhere. Edit: just looked them up. They were called American Bricks. Very popular in the 60s.
I had Lincoln Logs (leggos? Whats that?) and a Tonka truck car carrier. Didnt hear about bigwheels til later?
