But chicken wire is so easy to get through! Don't even need wire cutters.

Yeah but it might be enough of a deterrent. If it takes more time than just tossing splits into a truck the thieves might move onto easier pickens.
Another idea is a trip wire attached to one of those high pitch alarms.

Google personal alarms. They are cheap, and are activated when the pin is pulled out. Rig a few of those in strategic places, I would sure high tail it out of there if I were up to no good and one of those alarms went off.

Papa Dave may I recommend a puppy, check out rottiman bear, mine passed 7 years ago and FedEx and UPS still are careful when come down the drive:whistle::rofl:  Even my little Shepard Lady who we've had 6 months definitely let's me know when hunters or kids on 4 wheelers are out back. While she friendly if You don't belong here she definitely let's me and them know

We have 2 labs. 75-80 lb female and her 90 lb son.
They were acting up the morning this happened, and my wife thought she heard a vehicle door close. I didn't hear a thing.
When a car goes down our road a little too slowly, they run to the door barking.
Yeah, we have those, and they don't like strangers.
Our little Dachsy is the real terrorist.

Didn't really have much energy today, but did get a little more done.
Finished getting the Maple from the field and set the posts for the Oak. Stacked a little of the Oak from the field and got the last of the Oak still on the ground stacked.
This pic shows all Oak in the back row, front row from the right is the Oak from today. To it's left is the Red Maple full and partial stacks.
The pile on the other side of the tarp covered splitter is the rest of the Red that needs to be SS, then way to the left is almost 1/3 cord of Ash.
Out of frame to the right is trailer full of Oak which should be a 1/3 cord, and there's almost another 1/3 still in the field.
Wife will be gone for a couple hours in the morning, but I hope to get the Oak outta' the field tomorrow when she gets back.

Or a llama. Ours let a siren out when something/someone came into the corral at night.

Come on down Dave. We can get you plenty of it. Just ask rdust about it. He can verify we have some.
