Splitting not as much fun in the heat vs the cold. Feel better soon.

Well, I'm feeling a lot better than a few days ago, thanks so much for your concern the last few days. Doc put me on strong antibiotics Monday morning and today most of the redness, burning and swelling are gone. Feeling a lot better now.:) I brought those rounds home that we were talking about the other day and split some of them. Took a few pictures of what I split so far to see if the mystery can be solved. Some of them were starting to get a little punky. Thanks again for your valued help and concern.

Well that was my thought too, but once I started splitting it most of it split apart real easy, not stringy. Then I would get some stringy every so often, I don't know. Most Elm I've had was stringy and a pain to split.

If it’s been dead for a time it splits real easy.

Thank, didn't know that. I guess what I was getting previously wasn't dead very long because it was a bear. After some splitting today I took a moisture reading, it was between 26-50%.

Just getting caught up on this thread. I’m not sure about the wood. Doesn’t really look like anything we have around here. But I’m sure glad you’re feeling better, barns1!
