This thread has got me thinking. I think most of us on this forum like being in the woods cutting firewood. We are bring our dogs with us when we do that. I think of the fond memories of our best friend in the woods. Watching them chasing whatever is moving in the woods and having a great time in the process. I remember when my two labs in the spring time we were removing some buckthorn and the two labs were going berserk barking at something. So, after about a half dozen calls I finally decided to see what all the barking was about. Well, they had two baby fawns (still wet) cornered against a big stump. All they wanted to do was to have them play and run. They weren't going to hurt then one bit. So, I knew mom was not far away. So, I grabbed both of them and yanked them up to the kennel. Needless to say, they were not happy campers. Then went down to make sure the two fawns were ok. Well, mom had already moved them. Not a trace of them. A few months later we saw them walking with mom in the neighbors bottom ground eating some corn.
Those types of memories make us sad to loose something like that. I probably never would have gotten that close to two baby fawns in my life if it wasn't for Nina' and Shadow. Both great dogs

33, really sorry to read this. My condolences with having to deal with this, not a situation any dog/friend partner wants to think about, much less deal with.
Just gave my 108lbs. of Lab-Love some extra attention. Had to, she's not a pup.
