5 years ago I started taking my grandsons to the closest State Park available.....still doing it today! Now that cooler (below 80) weather is around we go more often.....and I take any of their friends or cousins who want to go. In this pic there is another adult (out of frame) and one 3 yr old you can barely see his lime shirt on far right, and 7 boys all under 10. What's amazing is they LOVE, LOVE working on wood.....They didn't have to be told what to do. I don't have the impressive stacks you fellas have but I have a lot of fun working and teaching others...
That's awesome. I try and get my 3 boys out as much as possible to help me with the outside. They love it and it makes me a proud dad when they help. My twins are 8 and my youngest is 5
They are learning from you, even when you don't realize it! You should be proud of your sons, and they will certainly be proud of you too!
That looks like a fun time TripleF! Do any of them have pocket knives or multitools that they use? That is a great age to let them use edged tools. I think the effort of their responsibility and safety greatly increases since they are handling sharp tools that could cause injury. Kudos for getting them out. Any other bush craft skills being taught like primitive cooking or firestarting with flint or bow and drill?
Yeah buddy.....I pass out knives before each mission, which like library books of old, are due back at the end of the mission. I did have the boys prepare their own hobo meals this time out. Usually they brings snacks, jerky and apples....we had that too but I showed them how to make hobo meals.......see below...(tall guy is a helper).
