The roof metal will be ready thurs. I'm hoping that these deep gravel footings will drain and not heave in the winter. I've wanted to try it out as I've been assured that it's fine by folks I trust. I just don't trust putting wood in the ground and didn't want to dig in the 4' concrete posts because some where in there my house elec. go's through. It's on the house side of the meter and the utility co. will not locate it for me.
Still "peckin" away at it. The little 10' wide bonus room will be for the little stuff that does not need a lot of height, like the Mule, atv's, log splitter, grass cutting tractor and tractor attachments. In order to maximize the floor space I built a pair of doors for each end and a pair of rolling doors for the middle "bay's". each bay is about 10'x9'. The tedious stuff like doors is satisfying but slow progress. and a single 11x11 rolling door on the main section. I hope to keep the mice out of this area, this is the lower door edge "receiver" that I came up with on another building a while ago. Hoping it works ok here in snow country.
Is anything really finished? Or just the beginning of the clock's countdown to when "it" need's attention of some sort, again.
Well the outside is done, most of the wiring & lights. I'm happy to report that my gravel footers seem to be performing well as the ground has been frozen for several weeks. It did heave the ground up at the green doors enough to jamb things up. I knew it would and did not leave enough space when I graded it. Pulled it away on a warm day when the top was loose. There's 2 rolling doors @ the middle that roll to the corners for access without moving everything else. Another rolling door on the bigger (left) side. This is the 2nd time I used this wood "groove" for a rolling door to keep the wind & weather from blowing under the door. It's also on about 3' of gravel for drainage and also is working out well both with the snow & wind and not seeming to heave or move around with the frost. I've built a bunch of high shelving that does not interfere with the floor space inside for seasonal stuff like coolers & stuff that don't see much action in the winter. I think I'm done with this project.
More like trying to put two trucks worth of stuff in one truck maybe ? I've done the standard/extra/crew progression and it's just far too easy to start carrying everything you might need and then start storing it there, like a work truck. What I don't like about crew cabs with a worthwhile bed is it's like trying to park a train in a progressive designed parking lot made for tiny cars.
WOW! Amazing job! I need to do something below where we were all cutting. Thinking a 3 bay shelter for the equipment. Love the rolling doors!
Even a 3 sided shed with an open front (away from your prevailing weather) is great and all you need for outdoorsey stuff.
Looks awesome fuelrod! I like the lower door channel. I’d love to have a tractor shed even half the size of your new addition. The wife doesn’t really care for sharing the garage with the Kubota so maybe someday.
