    The silver maple will no doubt dry the fastest especially if you split fairly small. It is like red maple and we've burned that in as little as 6 months and got along just fine with it; but the 6 months did include the hot summer. I would not bet on it if cut in fall then tried to burn it in 6 months. I have no experience with yellow poplar but understand it isn't too bad for drying. Dead trees usually will still have moisture in the bottom third of the tree but the tops usually are good.

    Every stove is different. My PH burns best with the air shut entirely once you get up to beginning temp. But of course it’s designed that way I guess. The two IS made by the same company seem to burn better at 1/8 throttle.

    Fill a Heatmor 400 with 20% moisture oak . It goes nuts you shut front draft way down and it's like you have blast furnace at below 0f . I could try to explain it all day . Its something everyone needs to see cycle times are fast . I call it dragons unleashed . Nice warm house
