My 11 year old son can split 20 inch fir rounds with our 6.5 ton electric splitter. Myself, I can go all day on that thing without stressing my back or shoulders. Well worth the investment, slower than the gas ones but cheaper, and well..... whats the hurry lol.

What's the hurry indeed?!!!! One should not hurry when working with machinery. What's the old saying? Haste makes waste.

I am a headcase sometimes, I was great at being hasty for almost 40 years, I cannot do anything quickly now and my brain tells me to, makes a :loco: :heidi::picard:out of me.

PS, not with any machinery beyond a dishwasher of vacuum Dennis:)

I tried my electric out on the ground sitting on a bucket when I first got it, I didn't like it much got it up at a good working height with the back table it was smooth sailing then.

I have an electric that I used before I got my larger gas splitter. I always used my electric splitter on the tail gate of my truck. That seemed to work ok.

A little too pricey for a electric splitter. I am cheap and bought one of the 5 tons on sale for 275.00 at the end of the wood burning season. Plus it had been sitting for awhile and I think they wanted to get rid of it. I split a lot of wood with it though and it worked pretty good with pine. But I also split a lot of cottonwood with it too. On the cotton wood I to sometimes turn the round to the other end and split it twice because that stuff can be stringy and tough.

It was more of a joke than anything.;)
Its likely more expensive because its a dual action splitter. They seem to be more money accross the board gas or electric.

I have an Earthquake W-1200 5 ton splitter, which I got new for $210. No regrets buying it. It works well, but as often as not I still swing the X27.

My next splitter, if there is one, is likely to be the 20 ton Harbor Freight gas-powered one.

Fun news! You all are right on the mark here :) He mentioned getting a splitter tonight. All by himself, I did not leak anything discussed here (oops, he does not visit here often). Wooo! Thrilled:)

Hi Dave:) Foot is pretty good, healed a bit funny, but it's pretty much healed and am getting around well. It kinda hurts to sit indian style, which is my most comfortable position to sit (and I sit all day), so I get irritated that I have to sit with my feet on the stool ring. I brought out my hiking boots from 1990, they are 3/4 steel shank, kinda heavy to wear all day but if I am up and around I put them on and don't have to worry about stepping wrong and can sit indian style in them. My duramax is an automatic, but the clutch on the old blazer is pretty stiff, not sure if I will be driving it this summer...
