The guy said he would be here sometime after 2pm today. I have a bad feeling about the mud in the driveway but he thinks he should be ok. I'll let you know.
Update, he came out 1/2 way was having trouble in the mud towing the backhoe and turned around. He texted me a while back and said I am still on sched for this week. That is great on my end, WWW was worried about heavy machinery ruts in the driveway and I was worried about him getting stuck.
Heck, even the beginning of next week. Let the ground firm up a bit, looks like decent weather for the next few days.
x2! I am in no hurry but I want to keep my place in line, would be a bummer if he sold out. Looking at the Denver news forecast I might guess you will have mud pretty quick too?
Plenty of mud already. One of the reasons I've held off having my friend drop off wood. But it's getting better. Check with your wood guy to see if he has a problem holding off for a few. If you pre-pay, he shouldn't have an issue.
I see puddles. Ya' got some 4x4's or 6x6's or pallets to set the new wood on? Speaking from experience, you need something under the new logs. It's mud season, your base material will sink in over the next month. Or- a couple of sacrificial logs perpendicular to the main load. Talk to your wood guy about placement. Look forward to pics. tomorrow. I mention this because I think you're on a semi-alluvial field, ...concentrated weight may settle/sink a bit.
Whenever I have gotten a truckload delivered, it is always the way that the logs are unloaded. A few stringers are place down on the ground and the rest of the load is laid across the top of them. When I start to cut the load, I would always bust out a couple more stringers from the pile and then roll the logs onto those added stringers for cutting....carefully roll them!
He only charged me $15 for delivery, WOW!! 4 cords for $355 in the driveway. Pics later after I find the usb cord for my phone AND he did perpendicular stringers on the bottom Again I really appreciate the advice guys
Well, I'll be the first to say it. That doesn't look like 4 cord of wood. Is there more not in the pictures?
My first impression was the same, but then I think the camera doesn't show a true scale of size because I'm always surprised once someone puts a chainsaw in the pics of their rounds... I don't think WWW would let anyone pull the wool over his eyes, either.
I agree with all of you, bad pic but I questioned it too. That said I asked WWW to check the how wet it was and how much was out there, yep, wet, guessing from last fall?, but he confirmed its "darn near 4 cords". The logs are 16' - 30' long. I am used to 8' logs in his pickup and the horsetrailer.
