I'm going to purchase this splitter this weekend. Finally found one so I don't have to pay the shipping. We give a lot of wood to people and now we can presplit the wood or bring the splitter and help them split and stack it. I looked at the one at fleet farm and liked the way this one is set up and the log catchers are much roomier than the lumberjack I looked at. I have ran the powerhorse splitter that's identical to this and it is perfect for what we do. Tree monkey has the powerhorse version and has yet to have any problems and he sells firewood. Looking forward to putting this thing through its paces.

It came in the mail today. I could send you mine but you would not get it in time to get the splitter this weekend. They may be able to use the code under the UPC. My HF store has a notebook with all the coupons in it, including the inside track club coupons. If you find a nice cashier they may scan it out of the notebook for you. If you want me to send you my coupon let me know.

Thank you sir. I will see if I can sweet talk the cashier when I pick it up. I have to call Friday to make sure they have one left. The gentleman I spoke to said he didn't think it would be an issue but I want to make sure they hold one til Saturday. Called 4 stores and only one had any in stock.

Looks like a no go on the splitter. The 2 they have are not sellable. One display and the other is missing parts.

Will they ship you the parts that are missing?

Hate Hate Hate it when the store is not able to deliver what they advertise available. "Sorry, it's a demo, none instock. Can't sell the floor model." They need to take it off the floor when that happens.
Hope you come up with a decent deal. Don't settle on one just because it is available now. Get the one you want, you'll be happy that way.

Other than a 2 way splitter I prefer ones with a stationary wedge as I have been hit by split pieces when using ones with a moving wedge. The idea of having a horizontal/vertical unit does appeal as some of the rounds we have would have to be noodled to get loaded into the trailer to get them out of the woods. I feel splitting them would be easier than noodling as just as fast. Been looking closely at the ariens splitters as they seem to be getting high reviews and one site has them as the #1 seller.

The axle on the ariens sits forward more than most vertical/horizontal splitters, so it is out of the way. The Gravely splitters are the same as the Ariens.

I finally got to check one out and see the set up in person of the HF splitter. They are a tad lower than I would like but I think I can live with it. Even with shipping it's cheaper than a speeco or countyline/huskee splitter. Was at a HF about an hour from home and they are suppose to get 2 in Tuesday so I'm going to call at lunch and see if they will hold it till I can get there after work. Could of drove back home and another 1.5 hours north and picked one up yesterday but decided not to as I was sick of driving around. Fingers crossed I will be getting one Tuesday and assembled and test run Wednesday so I can run it all weekend at my parents cabin this coming weekend.

I hope the splitter works out for you. I know you have had a hard time finding one. The next thing I plan on doing to mine is a "4" lift". That will put the bed height at 32" IIRC.

I should have just drove the extra yesterday to get it. Then I would of already had it set up and did the 3 hour run time for brake in before next weekend. If you do the lift let me know how it works out.

I broke mine in at full throttle splitting. If I do the lift I will post it in this thread. Also they recommend you use ATF instead of hydraulic oil if you are going to use it in temp over 70*.
