You have a stationary wedge - right?
The force of the releasing split will go anywhere.
I've never had anything fly - except when attempting to shear a branch(explicitly no-no in manual) yeah they will shoot across the yard and the other side will nearly take your junk off.

With these they don't fly anywhere the foot holds the stationary end, its the live point of the wedge that will slam the split into the table/carriage and or rotate the split as it shears through a crotch.
It's not as dangerous as I describe - unless you keep your hands "under the split"

So , the thin wedge kinda slices the wood ,instead of popping it apart ?
I made the mistake one time of putting my fingers in the crack getting ready to pull the wood apart the rest of the way , when I pulled it off the wedge it clamped down on my fingers :startled: , lucky I happened to have a pry bar out there that day :emb:

Harbor Freight called me Friday. They have the part to fix the tongue and are shipping it to me.

Yes, it is more like a knife. It takes less tonnage to push a narrow wedge.

    Great review and videos..

We contemplated getting this splitter. It seemed like a great deal, but there wasn't enough reviews or people with them 4 years ago.

That's a quick cycle time and you made a lot of splits in a short time. :)

Yes, this one is fine. They sent me a receipt, the part would have been $12 which I thought was cheap.

So far it is running great. The engine starts very easily. I have a little under 5 hours on it right now. It has split a decent amount of wood in that time.

I got a new splitter myself. So far the splitter has proven to be very durable. Made in Germany, very high quality steel.

The power unit seems to be fairly heat sensitive. Did well enough in the spring but in the summer it craps out after only about 10 good sized rounds.

    That's a good one:):axe:
I have one of those wedges too and it definitely works better than a straight regular wedge

I got the splitter happy with it watched videos on filter Mod didn't buy the Napa :headbang:Went with a Lenz off the shelf at Tractor supply.Hooked upsame way blew the filter apart at the seem were it is put together found out there is a check valve in the base removed that threw on a hastings filter cross reference to the Lenz was working good for about an hour blew oil seal out the sidelike I over tightened itbut only turned 3/4 spraying.Have you had any trouble with the Napa Wix?.I was thinking I should have mounted it down by the tank?I was able toget the filter parallel instead of tilted to the side.I am going totake back filter and base and get a Wix.Iam thinking the Lenz base sucks and should have went with the WIX.
