Buffalo chips are a more traditional fuel.

Problem is most woman are just too lazy these days.
If only I could get my woman to gather enough Buffalo Chips to keep the house warm I'd happily sell my chains saws.

On a side note, do you think that woman in the photo standing beside her wheelbarrow full of steaming Buffalo Chips feels the same source of pride that we do posing beside our wood piles?
I'm sure many people out there view our wood stacks in much the same way. LOL

I had that thought too, but I had a half a day to do something with them, and very shortly they could be under a ten foot snowbank, not to be seen until late April. My neighbor wanted them gone so he wouldn't hit them with the plow pushing snow back there.

So, I am about through my shoulder wood for this year, and am missing it. I am reminded how much I like pine, even though now I am burning the much "better" firewood, Douglas fir and tamarack (western larch).

The pine lights so easy, and burns so hot, it really is a gooder firewood. I think next year I will plan to have enough pine to last the season, along with the higher BTU woods.

New saying - Pine is fine when it is mine! :picard:
