Nice work! So much more rewarding to give than to receive, imo.

For a short amount of time they were. Field sharpening didnt help on both longer ones. 22" was bucking the 38" DBH tree.
I look fat was my reasoning. Gotta lay off the midnight snacks and ice cream!

35C46F60-9143-4D4E-8680-E07F43C2AC13.jpeg I just started bringing home some of what I want. Nothing but clean heart wood splits  I’ll probably only take a cord, and the neighbor will have several cords which will last him many, many years since he only burns outdoors in the warmer months.

That's one of the many reasons why I LOVE my splitter :) I can make whatever shape I want, within reason of course.

I ALMOST feel bad cherry picking the creme de la creme out of the pile of splits I made... But not bad enough to not do it LOL.

Mighty fine offer Joe... Although I'm feeling like this could be a Trojan Horse. You show up to help, get that beached whale of a log flopped over, then I watch in terror as you slowly extend the FHC sign my way, big $h!t eating grin on your face as the burden that was yours becomes mine...

Yeah, hats off to The Wood Wolverine for all the absolutely massive oak scores he's worked over the years. It's much more entertaining seeing your pictures than it is to live it myself   These 30" trunks are just about all I care to deal with. If they weren't right next door to me I'd probably pass :picard:

The BTU’s are worth the sweat equity. Red oak (and white) kick out the heat for such a long time in my firebox I have no problem working them over. After years of processing apple from orchards, it’s actually a relief to get lots of wood without tons of limb work.

Not a fan of limbs myself. Those big trunks get my eyes wide LOL. Unlike you tho I’m looking for a reason to not work so hard. I know I’ll have to use machinery to lift them. It’s actually easier for me.
