There'll be plenty of time to catch up Pete........you got other priorities, and that's why we hoard wood to begin with. 12 cord should be enough to cover almost 2 years for ya, and with fall coming conditions to cut and split will be improving soon.....
Believe me I can't wait for fall!!! I'm gonna hit the woods like hurricane Pete this year brother! I hate getting behind! My wife says I'm being ocd right now obsessive collection disorder! Her words...
Smart wife....I like her word play there. Even if you can only do a truck load every weekend, you'll be right back where you wanna' be in no time flat (something you already know). This is a lifestyle, not a race. Why wait for fall?
Because I'm starting a very demanding account at work and will be busy for a while once it takes off. I can cut 2 loads a day on my own which is about 3 full cord and if my friend goes we almost double it. I don't usually get it all moved that day and anymore I'm starting to split on site and then bring it home. It tends to be easier with my setup. I agree it's not a race but I have to fit in the time I have this year and it isn't much... The joys of trucking again. Usuall day for a truck driver is easily 14 hours and that's the price you pay to be able to come home. OTR drivers only get 2 days off every two weeks at most companies. I won't do they ever again but I kept it on the back burner for so many years as a good fall back carrier but not my first choice. Driving is very rewarding in many ways but also a lot harder than when I was younger. Not to mention the noticeable explosion of people on the roads and there total lack of respect for anybody else driving.... Way worse than when I was driving years ago ( cell phones....) It makes for some horrible traffic jams in completely rediculas places where there shouldn't be any jams and means even longer days... Ya a little rant there
Best thing that happened to me was actually running out of wood, the price of propane spiking to $4.00 (plus 100 gal rationing) and having to cut dead standing elm in the snow to make it through the winter. When that happened, I ended up finding the other site, reading about having a 3 year plan and eventually finding this site and buying my Fireview. Having gone "all in" on the 3 year plan, those worries are long gone! to all you helpful and motivating hoarders!
True, and I don't anticipate it getting any better. We have a lot of traffic circles and roundabouts here. People misbehave while driving on those on a regular basis. The ones that have only one lane seem to work the best. those with two lanes have constant accidents. Hate it when you see someone going around a circle and using the cell phone. Those places require your full attention. Don't want to start a war, but you know what gender it is using the cell phone on the circle.
