The cart i got has a sleeve that goes over the ball and it rotates. It also has the garden cart piece so i know what you mean now
Small stuff shouldn't hurt. But that is why I got the cart for ours. I used to skid logs down until the tranny started making squealing noises. $300 cart or $8,000 ATV, math was easy to do.
Noticed you put a ball on the hitch. That was one of the things I liked about this cart, ball hitch or clevis pin are both options. I virtually never take the ball off of the ATV Oh, and with the large size of the clevis opening, you should have no problems with cornering should you go that route. PS.. like the toolbox.
Thats one of the bumpier spots we've been on. There was a "go around" trail, but what fun would that be?
There, fixed it for ya. I'd get 4 of these and come from the top down, with steel plate across bottom. if it were me.
Yeah, I know they do, I just grabbed that image as a quick reference. I did think of U bolts from the bottom up, but you wouldn't want the ends sticking up into the toolbox and mucking up your saw. Some metal strapping across the bottom should work well, but I know they make some relatively thick metal backers for those also. I'd think any Lowes or Home Depot would have them.
I do skid some with the atv but mostly just to get it out of the brush. If I want to skid any distance I built a dray to haul it on. This dray cost me around $10 to build. You can build them to any size you want. I think the longest log I've hauled on it was 12' but it was built mainly to haul 8 footers. Of course, it works best when there is a little snow on the ground but I still use it when there is no snow; just won't haul as large of a load then.
I also should have mentioned the log arch for skidding. We have a few members that have them: Shawn Curry, walt and TurboDiesel
I have a Country MFG log arch. Very happy with it so far. The only problem I have with it is that the draw bar is not welded on (yet). I’ve sheared probably a dozen 1/2” bolts.
I had this guy give me a wooden sled that iv been saving for like 3 years, ill go take a pic to see what you think of it
I dont even know what this was used for, seems heavy to be pulling by those handles, definitely needs some love
