Seldom do I score black walnut, let alone a full tree. It wasn't big and the heartwood not that wide, but I was able to get the 8.5' log on the truck. Some slicing on buzz-saw's mill and ended up with seven 8" boards. Not as pretty as anticipated, but still fun to be able to slice one open. Milled some short honey locust logs I had brought there a couple years back. More pics to follow
Yes. A project in itself. Propping each end on rounds higher and higher until I was able to lift one end onto sawhorses. Angled high enough to get truck under it, then finagle it in. My tailgate survived the ordeal. Wark harder, not smarter!
As the site liaison between what allegedly happened and the actual proof of what occurred, this is all that Brad sent me. For all we know this was staged for a photo op and buzz-saw & buZZsaw BRAD are at Mohegan Sun right now gambling away the tall stacks of Benjamins they made selling this log to some international buyer that flew in from Dubai this morning. It IS highly valuableā¦.
