OK, IIRC, what you need to do is: 1. Figure out the area of the exhaust port on the bore side of the cylinder. 2. Figure out the area of the port under the deflector. 3. Find the area of the 3/8 hole you drilled and the factory hole. 4. Add up the areas found in steps 2&3 above. 5. Compare the total from step four to the area from step 1 above. 6. IIRC, if you are between 80-100% of the cylinder EP area you ought to be pretty close to optimal. If the saw is going to an older person you might want to keep in mind that muffler mods will make the saw louder and that may be damaging to an older person's hearing.
U missed one other thing? It doesnt even have a chainbreak!!!!! lol!! Thats why no video yet as Im waiting on the part before I run it
Sweet looking set up! That bar and chain look good with that top cover!! Well done! Waiting to see that beast run!
Its a hutzl Killian but it was suprisingly pretty good casting but a few extra lips left around the ports from factory but ive seen that on oem also. Cleaned up all ports , widened intake and exhaust and matched exhaust to flange, Knocked bottom lip off lower transfers and passed a hone through it a time or two to clean up. I was expecting the hutzl to be terrible but was very suprised. I believe the kit was called Farmer Tec
Farmer tec is the parent company of the ebay giant Huztl. They recently have started labeling all their parts that.
Ive seen hutzl cylinders on AS that looked horrible but this kit was suprisingly nice. Especiallly if porting, it will be cleaned up like I said but I have seen several stihl oem with extra lip left in the ports the same way as the farmer tec
I got a huztle BB 372 kit close to a year ago maybe less? It did not have the farmer tec on the packaging as the newer stuff I have bought has had. It looked pretty good myself. I put it on a old beater saw carcass that I havent got running g...although I did swap parts to get it cranked and tuned. Sounded fine the 10 mins or so I messed with it. I think I made a few cuts with it?? Honestly dont remember but it cut fine cause I dont remember being disappointed if I did run it.
She runs great! Nothing like the old ones, they just go better. She is throwing chips like there is no tomorrow. Ready for another 10 years. Your FIL should be very pleased!
Killians with the 272 topend and the 66 carb what should the topend rpm be set at? Manual says 12000 for a 66 and 13300 for 272? Seems this saw has either a limited coil or a semi fixed jet?
The HVA 66 used the Tillotsen HS-224 A&B series carb. The HVA 272 used the Tillotson HS-260 A&S series carb. I don't believe that either of the carbs are limited. Perhaps the coil, what color is the coil? If light blue or light green, coil is probably limited. I think I would set the top end at about 12.5-12.8K for break in, then retune after 4-8 tanks of fuel.
Kg461, it is an old saw, don't tune by tach, tune by ear. Saw should 4-stroke WFO with cutting equipment, then just clean up when it hits the wood.
