Thanks! There is some paint missing on the clutch cover, but overall for an 11 year old saw she cleaned up nicely. Shoulda heard me cussing first time I put it to wood after all that cleaning! :mad:o_O

I am dealing with an occasional stall just after coming out of a cut. I'm still a tuning novice, but I'm sure I'll get it properly sorted out with more run time. Haven't had much cutting weather lately...too much mud! Might try to get out tomorrow.

Good luck with the rebuild, I will be following along!

Hey fuzz, really jogged my memory reading this. I did the same thing last winter with my old 350. Haven't ran it much since rebuild but plan to this spring.
    Here it is after disassembly/cleaning:

I cleaned up all the carbon inside, piston looked pristine so I reused it.
Deleted base gasket, squish is .020, compression after was 155ish. Also did the metal intake clamp. I was lucky that my clamp never cracked, and muffler never once loosened up!! I did use some red loctite on the bolts just for s/g.
Little advise: hog out the muffler opening or add a second port-made a big difference on mine!

Well.....I'd hate to speak out of turn...since I'm not done.....but....so far..no reassembly....and there are ALOT of parts !!! But so far with the tare down....and cleaning.. And organizing....painting muffler...etc....I have probably 2 to 3 hours in it total I'd guess . Meteor piston kit $40.....tube of 3 Bond 1194 liquid gasket $8.......crank bearings and seals....$20. ( my bearings are probably fine..but I'm in there now..why take a chance). So that's around $68 !
I still need fuel line and filter...clutch sprocket...flywheel...and some odds and ends that you may not need. I'd guess I'll have $125 to $150 in it because of other stuff needing replaced. Is the saw worth it ? Nope.....but to me..YES !
I'd guess an hour for careful assembly too ....and double checking Iol.
Maybe 2 hours with a beer break lol ;)

So got a few parts in ......
Started with new crank bearings and seals. The original bearings seem good....but...the new set wasn't expensive....so while its all apart....why not replace em. Cleaned up the crank a little...lubed the pee out of everything....put the new seals over the bearings....which is a tight fit lol ! So far..so good ! I debated whether or not to replace the crank seals on my 350 when I rebuilt it. Decided against. Not cost related, but read that they can be a pita. I noticed that I have an oil leak coming from behind the metal case cover on the drive side...gotta get that taken care of.

So I was able to get a little more done today....first...as I have read and seen in vids....lightly sand the bottom of the riser on a flat surface...to smooth out any high spots ... IMG_20160126_130755599.jpg IMG_20160126_130927729.jpg
    Bright and Shiney !

Then time to get the Three Bond out...and put the riser on...didn't know how much it would take.....so I coated both surfaces just to be sure. I'll have to apologize to my daughter...she has one less paintbrush now lol ! IMG_20160126_131335862.jpg

Went together nice... I also used locktite on the threads of the bolts underneath....but...I hear because of the thread design....the locktite is useless......but I feel better gooping it on and trying :) IMG_20160126_132658422.jpg IMG_20160126_131757538.jpg

Did you put any sealant on the outer rubber coating of the bearing/seal?, to be honest, I'm not sure there should be or not, I've never had to tare down one of this series of saw that far.

So next step.....Three Bond on the cylinder...to heck with the base gasket lol.....lubed up everything really well....on goes the cylinder....thanks to my handy dandy beloved piston ring compressor kit ! IMG_20160126_133613236.jpg IMG_20160126_134457746.jpg IMG_20160126_135039044.jpg

All tightened down....ready for the next step....I would have liked to put the new carb boot and metal clamp on before cylinder install....but ....it hasn't arrived yet...so I'll deal with it later I guess :( IMG_20160126_135338838.jpg IMG_20160126_135348107.jpg

I pondered this.....I decided not to....as the fit with the seals into the grooves of the riser and plastic holders took alot of effort on my part... So I figured it was good. I hope I made the right move.

Also....there were no remnants of sealant in those grooves or on the seals from the factory.
    I hope I gambled right !

Did it look like it had any on the old ones when you took it apart?

Definetly sealant on the flat matting surfaces. The stuff turned a whitish brown color over the years..hard to miss.
