Briggs has been working on an oil less engine for a while. It's funny, but true at the same time. That's unfortunate about your motor, as I've seen a few run extremely low on oil with no harm done, on motors with several times more than 40 hrs on them.
Did you purge the air out of the hydraulic system. You should probably start a new thread , help with splitter, probably get more input
Just a random thought but this engine is intended for this splitter? IIRC this particular model has a unique crankshaft length. If this engine is a replacement for a lawn mower, it may be equipped with a flywheel brake. That would make it a be-yatch to pull over.
You don't. But if the engine was intended for a mower, it would be equipped with a flywheel brake that would require a cable hooked up to release the brake. I doubt these splitters have such a cable.
Oh I got ya! That stupid lever you have to hold. I'm surprised if it had one of those that he could even pull it at all. Would think that you would break the rope!
I'd still put some oil in the old engine and break it free - you could have another engine to put on CL. Take the engine off, put it on blocks/ milk crate/ etc and pull it over. Cut the problem in half.
I love them subaru engines. Whatever splitter I buy next has to have a Subaru engine. One pull that's all it takes, 2 pulls when it's really cold
They havent always called them predator. But I know loggers that run them on gas compressors. They run them till they croak then buy a whole new unit. They said there cheaper and last almost as long as name brand stuff? Just passing that along. Take it for what its worth. Buy the blue HF engine on the splitter my buddy has is A1 I mean smooth, good on fuel and pretty quiet and starts first pull.
Ok thanks for the info. Always good to know about other stuff as well. I seen the blue one when I google predator engines, thanks again
