Plenty of Sandy wood has probably already been burned unseasoned.
Getting out and helping neighbors cleanup is what makes a community - sad there is less and less of it nowadays, folks just think the gov't should come in and rescue them

I hope this storm continues to turn east, and misses everyone entirely. If projections are correct, the storm should downsize to a tropical storm. Im not holding my breath though.

This year, I too am burning Hurricane Sandy wood....... how ironic

I wonder what will become of it. The water is awefully hot. And like Bernie says below, the water (besides for the current hurricane) is untouched. I predict another TS. Good eye Zap!

Where Will Major Hurricane Joaquin Head Next?

My daughter is in Myrtle. Telling her to not depend on their models and keep a close eye on it.

One of the reasons I keep hammering the idea to remove trees that can fall on and damage your home. It just isn't worth the risk. I have some that could fall and pull the wires out of my house, but none I think that can fall on the house, cars etc. I don't miss any of them. We still are surrounded by trees.

Good thing, after that last soaker, I don't think the ground can hold any more. I also think we will get our fall colors next week. Would be sad to have them knocked down.

    5. Staggering Rainfall Totals
Meteorologists for The Weather Channel say that a tropical feed of moisture along the Eastern Seaboard is being enhanced by the presence of Hurricane Joaquin, as it spins over the Bahamas, causing massive amounts of rain up and down the East Coast,

Some parts of the Carolinas may get more than 20 inches of rain over the three days, according to the NOAA. (NOAA)

The latest rainfall forecast from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association shows up to 20" of rain in the next three days near the North Carolina/South Carolina border -- levels that haven't been seen since Tropcial Storm Jerry in 1995.

The National Weather Service in Greer, South Carolina, forecasted Thursday afternoon a “historic, potentially life-threatening rainfall event” is possible in the area this weekend.

“To see a potential for over a foot of rain in parts of the Carolinas or Virginia, already soaked by flooding rain earlier this week, even if Joaquin never passes near the U.S. is staggering,” said weather.com meteorologist Jonathan Erdman.

The latest 3-day Quantitative Precipitation Forecast from NOAA's Weather Prediction Center is calling for 10+ inches of rain for more than half of South Carolina, with a bulls-eye of 15+ inches for west-central portions of the state, including the cities of Greenville and Columbia. According to the NOAA'sPrecipitation Frequency Data Server, these could be 1-in-1000 year rains for some locations. The 3-day 1-in-1000 year rainfall amount for Greenville, South Carolina is 17.8", and is 14.2" for Columbia.
