I did "steal" a few from what I got last fall late in the winter to try out. Just a few I split small and they were good to go. Was afraid to say anything hear after all I've read about most on a 3 year plan. Figured burning wood so soon was sac religious.

Hay, when it's dry it's dry you can burn it, if you do get three years ahead it's good because you just know that what you got is dry enough, I have very little wood that is actually 3 years old most of stuff I burn is 2 years old or less

You can get ahead with quicker drying wood. Cherry, box elder, many maples, pine, ash, and anything dead already will get to dry quicker. I purposely cut a few dead standing trees down before it earned up to keep the tree from sticking up moisture from the roots. It worked as the stumps of a couple of sugar maples were oozing sap from the stump. While the detached trunks were nice and dry. :p
