    I've wrapped a chain around post/rebar then placed a pair of vise grips above the chain to keep it from slipping while nacking up with handy man jack (what then Hi-lifts are called around here). Might be less to carry than the pipe wrench.

    It has been years since we've done this but we used to wrap a chain around a post. Use something like a 2 x 4 or 2 x 6. Stand that at an angle. Put the chain over the 2 by and then fasten it onto the drawbar of a tractor (or truck or car) the gently pull it out. Worked like a charm.

    Wish I had a small tractor, but I don't. :( I don't think I could justify the expense :emptywallet: to Mama anyway - she will always be a city girl no matter how long we live in the country. It's a good thing I love her. :dex:
