I have a question about clean out of the stove and some might think this is a silly question from a person who has one. I want to know how often if at all do you have to clean those 3 tubes running along the top on the fire box and also the insulation mat above the fire box?
Well, I usually clean mine at the end of the season when I clean the pipe, unless I happen to clean the pipe during our mid-winter thaw. I pull the tubes and run a toothpick in 'em or something that won't damage the holes or make 'em larger. Some compressed air after that will get rid of anything inside the tubes. The "insulation mat" should come out anytime you run a brush down the flue pipe or you're liable to punch a hole through it/them. Every time i pull mine, there's a slight bit of fluffy ash on top. Be careful, they're pretty fragile. Mine are.
