    And put a ratchet strap around the base of the tree about a foot above your cut. So if it was to barber chair on you, the ratchet strap would hold it together.

    I’m such a fan of the Maasdam that I bought two more kits. Just arrived with the UPS man 30 mins ago. :ups:

    So to further elaborate on the Maasdam, I recently took down the tree in the picture.. Yes. The lean was as bad as it looks.

    I did a very open face cut. Idea was to maintain a hinge as long as possible.

    I tied off with two ropes in the big crotch that was 2/3 of the way up the tree. This is when I already had started pulling

    This is the view from the first pull point.

    This is from the second pull point. If the rope started to rub on that tree, I planned to put a pulley on the rope and pull it away from the tree to prevent friction damage.

    As you can see, the back cut opened up quite a bit and the hinge allowed it to stay attached.
