Aw heck ma'am, most everbody in Festus would fit right into the cast of characters of Gunsmoke. Well...except Miss Kitty, there ain't nobody as purdy as her. And me?? Well, I guess if Jack Elam wasn't around for a look alike comparison, ol' Festus would be just about as handsome after an all night drunk and being slugged a couple times in a bar fight after having been drug through the desert behind an old mule. Yes ma'am, its a fact. Of course HE's got all his teeth, and I can't say THAT. On the scooters... I had a '96 Vulcan 1500 until '06 when I picked up a Star Stratoliner with 500(ish) miles on it. I traded the Strat even money for the '05 Road Glide in '09 from a deputy sherrif (ain't THAT funny). I don't remember when I got the Valk, '01 or '02-ish. Still have two Suzuki GT-750's (water buffalos) '74 and '75. Had them since '76. I've a pristine '78 Suzuki GS-550, a 97 600 Ninja, '91 600 Katana, an '03 Suzuki 1200 Bandit and others too numerous to mention.... mostly old junk. It'd be too hard to list the ones no longer in posession. I got hooked on two wheels at the tender young age of 14 on a cousins motorized bicycle when he mounted a horizontal shaft engine on the front forks. It was a lot better than riding those boney-backed cows in from the far pastures for evening milking and almost as fun as jumping off the corn wagon onto the old boar hog's back when I was 7. Man, you talk about a ride!!! I woulda made you ladies and those fancy mechanical bulls right proud riding that damm hog !!! See I that's proof I been riding 'hogs' since I was only 7. Done come around full circle huh...... Untamed?? I'm just about as tame as the old boar in the above anectdotal story...the bad thing is I probably smell about the same too after a day in the woodpile...... Shux ma'am, you ain't scary...you just have headstrong way about yourself and don't mind a bit what anyone says or thinks. There are quite the number of similarities between my youngest daughter (31) and yourself. Superbly intelligent and quick witted, very strong willed and just genuine 'real' people.
Well the blue '74 though complete, is now pretty much a parts bike for the much nicer red '75. The '74's motor is roasted and just about non-repairable due to the damage and its been that way since I got it. The '75 is disassembled down to the frame awaiting a rechroming of the shiney pieces. It's only got around 26,000 miles on it and is in exellent mechanical condition. So I guess I could post a pic of the boxes of pieces and the rolling chassis.... . I plan on a powdercoating of the frame and other painted parts also. When the red one is done, I'll be parting out the rest of the '74. They ARE kinda scarce ain't they......
