My bad. I should have been more clear. Seems like the folks back from the mid-Atlantic states and north on the East coast have summer extend a little more into the Fall than up here in the PNW. :D

Thank you Brad. After reading lots of threads, it appears that I might actually know what in the hell I am doing. It took me long enough to figure it out, but there you go. All I need now is some means of transporting all the potential wood on my 6 heavily wooded acres that sits on what the locals around here call a "horse face ridge". I've got three of them and they are steeeeeep.

I'll probably light the boiler after I get back from vacation toward the end of October. House might not need much heat but free DHW is worth it.

They're actually a bit harsher on the east side of the Cascade Mountains.

I was surprised at how different the climates (and the politics) are on either side of the Cascades. There was a whole load of snow in Wenatchie when I was there.

Yep. All the population is on the west side of the state. In fact, there are 3 counties in the Greater Seattle/Tacoma/Everett area and if you pull those politically, the remainder of the state has no hope. It seems to be that way in most the US minus some Southern cities. Population centers are more liberal while rural economies are more conservative.

Basically someone such as backwoods savage, walt, a and well season will host one. It his mainly a weekend deal. Most people stay right on the host property. Tents, campers, even teepees. Everybody brings food to share for the meals along with supplies for the meals. Some of the guys do the cooking. Great cooks by the way and some bring there own cooking utensils such as grills. It s open to all members, their families and dogs. Saturday is generally a "work day". After breakfast the saws come out and the bucking and splitting begin. Logs will be ready to go. They may ever drop a tree or two. Saturday night is generally party night. Seems like there is always a fire going to sit around and talk. Sunday everyone heads home. Just a fun weekend.

I suspect that by the time sheep hunt comes around for the last week of August we most likely will be in the 24 hour club.

It's a Get Together. A member will host it, usually 3 day weekend, visit, cut wood have a big campfire and EAT. We went to our first on in May at Backwoods Savage place in Michigan. Had a great time.

Yea you hit the epic on. Oh I remember right 78 people, biggest ever. Had an Aussie and his dad fly in. Midwinter from NH flew in. I know for sure NY, Ohio, I also think Pa and Nebraska. And of course you and Carol from Ga. Fun time.

Chaz family has relatives down in that area. We weren't on here at that time or I am sure we would have been there. Just a few hours away.
