Just blowing past 2 cords here. Another two weeks and I will be passing what I burned for the entire year each of the last three winters. Suppose to be going sub zero lows a few nights this week and most of next week. If it keeps it up I might break 4 cords this year and I have never broke 3 before. But that's ok, there is plenty more waiting to get fed to the stove.
Pretty sure I am at 4.25 cord since October 1st. Glad I put up extra wood. It has been a while since we have had it this cold. I would say 10 years since this cold. It was colder earlier this year as well. Good training for all of us!
I'm now just under 3 cord. Should finish the row of Oak I'm on by tomorrow or Saturday. We've been turning on the DV heater on nights of 0 or below and off again in the morning, but it hasn't changed how we burn the stove. If the stove was able to keep up on it's own, we would have burned more wood.....probably another 1/3 cord or so. If Mom wasn't here, we'd not have used the DV quite as much overnight, and would have just dealt with the house being chilly in the morning. I expect the total for this winter to be about 5 1/3-5 1/2 cord. Really depends on what ma nature throws at us.
Well, Lets get this back to the top... Another month down since this posted. I've burnt through almost another cord. I just move the last bit of the cord of wood up to the house today. So that will be 3 cords probably by the end of this week. Its suppose to be cold all week long here. Will be moving on to next years wood by the middle of the month.
A lot more than most years. Don't have an exact figure but I'm more than half way through my normal size heap hausen. Only burned half of the usual amount of shoulder wood. It was an abnormally warm fall up to mid November and then the cold switch got flipped. Been consistently colder than normal since.
I'm probably about 3.5 cord by now but I kinda lost track. Not too worried though I got plenty more. Just brought another half cord up to the porch today
7+ cord between shop & house. Cold winter & big doors on shop = big wood consumption. Probably blow through 10 cord by spring. No other heat source in use though. A C
I've burnt about 1.5 cords. Working though my elm/ash rack. One more rack left and it's shoulder season stuff. I've restocked a couple racks already for next year with 2 year old elm/ash/maple but I hope I don't have to dig into that stuff. Colder this year than last, but less snow so far.
Another 2 truck loads out of the barn... I better save back more next year... This crap is getting out of hand quick!!
Just rearranged things a bit - 3 partial stacks into 2 big ones.Have burned so far as much as all last year from mid November 2012 to early April 2013.Have been home more often during the daytime the past month & January was coldest here in decades. Not quite 3 cords gone through so far.Did get just over 1 cord green about 70% White Oak & 30% Red from my tree service contact in mid December 2013,that's wood for 2017-18 thereabouts. And there's close to 14 cords ready to go at parents property 1 hour to my west.Am getting anxious to go cutting again however.....
1 3/4 cords here and I've cut and hauled a little over 2 cords home so harvesting has kept up with consumption.
I really don't keep track. We mostly use wood from outside piles. There is a 12'x12' wood shed for the house & a 6'x20' area in the shop to pull wood from when the outside piles are wet or covered with snow. Rarely are the inside storage areas emptied. I have a 35 x 50 ft area of my shop I have been heating with a 10' wall on one side & an 18' wall on the other. Unfortunately I won't be able to finish insulating or hang ceiling fans until later this summer. I have been using about a half a cord a week just for the shop when it is cold. Thankfully I will still have over 2 years of cut & split wood left over after this winter. Then there is about a 75' row of mostly oak logs 8-12' long to work up this spring. May it never end! (I enjoy working with wood!)
I don't really keep track either but I have used way more Oak then usual so need to cut plenty this spring.
