It’s been fairly warm here so far but I’ve managed maybe half a face cord worth of a mix of uglies and some really old stuff from a neighbor. Some of its punky and there’s quite the mix in species from cotton wood to oak. Still throwing heat and for this extended shoulder season it’s keeping us around 70 inside so
My 1st fire was Oct. 28th and random after that, mostly morning and evening fires. Only a couple of all day fires, probably about 1/4 cord so far, I have a small house that's easy to heat. The round the clock burn will be soon enough. I'm in no hurry to burn hard, I'm saving wood.
We are starting to warm up if you flip through what’s your temp what you burning you can see my temps posted. I have had a fire since sometime in September. I must be pushing 2 months that I have been burning 24/7.
Same stove, 19feet of 6 inch pipe *gasp* and 1800sqft. About a face cord of mixed wood? Been burning since September. 24/7 for the past few weeks. Now that the cold is set in it's easier to keep the cat from stalling and not overheating.
guessing about a 3/4-1 full cord of ash so far, hard to tell for sure as I am replenishing my stacks at home as I go. Been burning since mid October with 24-7 burns since Halloween. Heating 3800 sqft of well insulated house... the best part is no gas so far! Will have to turn the furnace on over Thanksgiving as we will be gone for a couple of days I guess a little gas is better than frozen pipes!
Have been keeping track only since 01 October, burned just under a cord in HeatMaster OWF, heating 4300 sf in a well-insulated SIP/timberframe home, and domestic hot water for 4 people. Don't have a lot of experience with this boiler yet, only since 04 Jan 2017 when it was installed but it has been running 24/7 since then. I am adding 1600 sf of partially insulated garage to the heat load in a few weeks, so I am really going to give the OWF a workout then. Ironic that I need to heat it first in order to get the temp high enough to finish the insulation.
Just 2 of those hoop racks so far, all pine. That's probably about 1/3 face cord? I learned my lesson my 1st winter burning. I ran out of wood mid-January 2010 because I was so anxious to light the stove in early October and loved the warmth. It's a PITA to find seasoned wood mid-January.
It's been cold here for a while...although today shot up to fifty... Big change from snow on Saturday and below freezing most of yesterday. So in the last 7 weeks we have burned close to a cord. Not really quality wood, pine, box elder, silver maple, a wee bit of ash and a fairly large amount of something that I can't identify but is basically balsa when dry.
Nearing half a cord, mostly ash with some 3 yo oak during a cold snap...Last nights low 24, tonight's 33 so not bad, great morning for our rifle opener...No success but saw 8 deer, 3 of which were bucks...Back at em tomorrow
Has been a very warm fall here so far. First fire Nov. 4th the temp was 16 in the morning. Warmed back up so only three fires since maybe 1/4 face cord used total. May have to sell some wood if this keeps. Other wise I will have a hard time convincing Jane I need to get out in the woods to cut more.
