Our wall furnace quit working too, about 6 years ago.........once I turned off the gas and electricity to it. Canadian border VT , how are you burning that 13? Air wide open? You've got more than twice the attic insulation and a bit more wall too than we do. Our house is smaller, granted, but we only burn about 5 cords. Something's not quite right. Could just be my mind.
Papa dave and HD, hoping you would ask, I get it going 2 to 3 inches of hot coals then I turn in pipe damper down to if 12 is up and down than about 2 to 230 on a clock and at nite put stove damper to about half to keep it throwing as much heat as long as possible in 6 hours if i sleep, steel is cold to touch some red coals shovel then all out about 2 galloon a day and relite. my house is weird got pics in new epa stove forum. advice new woodstove. hind sight is 20/20 should have researched more and started with nc-30 but this thing 13 is listed for 1800 square feet. I new first I would pay it off upgrade and it will go to garage for staying warm while fixing snowmobiles and whatever kids break.. .all advice from FHC will be treasured and attempts at implementation will be made
1 at top of stairs house is 5 floors colonial 20 x 40 in back finished walk out 2 floor above raised ranch 20 x 20 2 floors front side by side raised ranch type stair well. I used ceiling fan for couple of days but air flow thru house is great stair ways act like cold air return. Just use small fan on second floor to push cold air to stove works better than ceiling fan 20 feet above stove as an aside thinking about adding 3 inch pipes in wall top of 16 foot ceiling in 4th and 5th floor to basement down sides of stair for cheap air conditioning in summer and reclaim the high heat in winter. I do a lot of thinking and inside work in winter
it's only 2000 square feet but above grade but 1000 of that has 16 foot ceiling. guy that built it figured town only taxed half square foot of any room where 1 wall was less than 5 ft 8 inch so top 2 floors go from 5-6 to 16 plus. town taxes me for 1132 biggest 1100 Sq ft house I've ever seen
If ya had the budget , get one of these Blaze King- king Firebox Size4.32 cu. ft. http://www.blazeking.com/EN/wood-king.html
was thinking about it for 1st floor basement as everyone says center chimney best! existing chimney there is concrete block brick faced 2 flue 8 x 11 rectangles clay and at least 36 feet straight up. either bk or regency 5100 but I have seen either in real life yet. and only having to load it once a day bonus 2 problems first wife says 1 at a time and living room has 6 inch class a flue too small for bk and she likes look and price of Woodstock IS. 2nd is I am not sure how many more than 11 Vermont face cords I can do.. then sleep
Oh, yeah , forgot about the flu. Well ,I would think you could some sleep with the Woodstock IS. Vermont face cords I love it
I'm still want in to see a BK king theres always next year for 2nd stove but in pic that looked real close to sheet rock wall
We'll be at around 11 cord by the end of the season. Not great wood, and really cold winter here in VT. Still nothing compared to a local woman who went through 20 cord this winter. That's after having hip replacement surgery. That's one hardy Vermonter.
see I am not green mtn boy burning a lot of wood maybe all in this state need 2 stoves! mmm time to talk to da wife... evening burndat
They have a Princess at the stove shop here, hooked to SW pipe, the guy said you can put your hand on the pipe when it's running
Road trip to Michigan, think of the fun I could have on other forums with a woodstock and a BK King startin trouble after Liz goes to bed
Read the posts about your trip to Woodstock, and looking forward to seeing what your IS looks like when you get her done. Maybe you could be the first proud owner of two of those girls?
after February up here wife and daughter would have let me put 1 in both bedrooms so 2 girls for my 2 girls
