Being the guy who has a lot of tools, a truck or trailer, knows how to do a lot of things, or is strong can be detrimental at times. You turn into the "go-to" guy. I personally hate asking others for help, so I tend to do things myself, even if I have to do it a harder, longer way. My wife always says, "Why don't you just ask for help!" Because I don't want to owe anyone any favors. Doesn't stop everyone else from asking me for help though. I've gotten better about flat out telling people "No. You cant borrow that tool, you leave them outside and let them get rusty, or bring them back with something broken". Or "Yeah I could replace that section of copper that has a pinhole leak, but you should really hire a plumber to look at all your water lines, as I've already fixed three different spots, and others are inevitably going to fail!"
Im not afraid of loading the hell out of my truck with wood (as most of you have seen by my postings), but at 90 miles id make it a lighter load...level bed of logs say. Couple Summers ago i drove an hour and a half across Connecticut with a full load of logs. Cut some wood for an aging friend and got a PU full for myself. Quite the sight coming down the interstate! Luckily most of my scrounges are within ten minutes of home.
